From wheelchair hoists to full van conversions, Vehicle Adaptions helps Kiwis with disabilities drive, travel and live more independently, every modification built and certified in-house.

At Vehicle Adaptions, we specialise in disability vehicle modifications across New Zealand, from wheelchair accessible vans and hand controls to custom hoists, boot cranes and steering aids. Whether you're newly navigating life after an injury or you've lived with a disability your whole life, our team designs, builds and certifies modifications that give you back your independence behind the wheel.

We are the experts in the modification of vehicles for disabled drivers and have the industry experience and knowledge to meet your requirements.

We work closely with Transport Occupational Therapists, ACC, and funders like Enable NZ to make sure every vehicle modification is safe, funded correctly, and fits how you actually live.

WHAT WE DO

Wheelchair Hoists & Cranes

Boot cranes, roof-mounted hoists and docking systems that safely stow and secure wheelchairs, including 2-way and 4-way electric cranes for carers and couples managing mobility equipment together.

Hand Controls & Steering Aids

Custom hand controls, steering wheel spinners and indicator adaptations for drivers with limited hand, arm or leg function, fitted to suit your specific strength and reach.

Left Foot Accelerators

For drivers who can no longer safely use their right leg, we install and certify left foot accelerators, paired with driving lessons through our qualified driving instructor.

Wheelchair Docking Systems

As power wheelchairs change, so do docking needs. We fit and adjust vehicle docking systems so your new chair locks in safely, every time.

Ute & 4WD Modifications

We modify utes and 4WDs for clients who want to keep hunting, fishing and getting into the back country, no two builds are the same.

Custom & Hard-to-Solve Modifications​

We're not a big, impersonal workshop, we're a close, friendly Kiwi team who genuinely get to know our clients. Vehicle Adaptions grew out of Freedom Mobility, New Zealand's specialist mobility vehicle importer, so our modification expertise is backed by decades of experience getting the right vehicle, for the right person, from the ground up.
